The story of RKSD College, Kaithal is a remarkable tale of vision, perseverance, and unwavering commitment to education. Established in 1954, the college was founded by the distinguished philanthropists and educationists of the Kaithal region who envisioned an institution that would bring quality higher education to the doorstep of every student.
Named after the revered Rao Kamla Singh, a visionary leader who championed the cause of education for the masses, the college began its journey in a modest building with just three departments — Hindi, Political Science, and History — and approximately 200 students.
What started as a small community initiative has now grown into one of the most prestigious and reputed educational institutions in the state of Haryana, producing thousands of successful professionals, administrators, educators, scientists, and leaders who serve the nation with distinction.
The vision that laid the foundation of a great institution.
Founding Visionary
In the early 1970s, the district of Kaithal lacked a proper institution for higher education. Students from the region had to travel long distances to Kurukshetra, Karnal, or Chandigarh for college education, which was financially and logistically challenging for many families.
Recognizing this critical need, a group of prominent citizens led by the ideals of Rao Kamla Singh came together to establish a degree college in Kaithal. Through collective community effort, fundraising, and support from the state government, the Rao Kamla Singh Degree College was officially inaugurated in 1954.
The founders believed that education is the most powerful tool for social transformation. Their vision was simple yet profound — to create an institution where every student, regardless of economic background, would have access to quality education that transforms lives and builds character.
